Yes, today is 08.08.08. A day believed to be a lucky day. So let’s just go through somethings that went on as a response to this date, today.

Firstly, a lot of couples got married today. I don’t really know if they are 888 in total or if they are called the ’888 couples’. The point is, there are damn a lot. Thean Hou Temple, in Jalan Syed Putra in KL itself had 480 couples getting married but this is just one temple in KL. What about the whole country? And in China? But reports said that, some tradition couples frowned because of getting married during the month of hungry ghost. Interesting, right? Haha…

Secondly, as you all might have known, the Olympic’s grand opening ceremony in Beijing is today! Guess what time it’ll be! Yes, it’ll be at 08.08pm.

Man, the number ’8′ is really SOMETHING especially for the chinese. Well, as a start, 8 is a natural number following 7 and preceeding 9. Hahaha, duhh rite? Don’t tell me you don’t know!!! O_O Anywayz, 8 is considered to be lucky because of its pronounciation in Mandarin, bā, similarity to fā, which means ‘prosper’.

Because of such similarity, people go crazy with this number. Don’t believe me? Well, people bid to tens of thousands just to buy car plate numbers with 88, 888 or 8888. Even crazier, plate numbers with 89, 98 or 8989 are waaaay more expensive. 9 in chinese is jiǔ, which has the another meaning, ‘longlasting’. So 89 means ‘longlasting prosperity’. Crazy it may sound but some people do believe this.

4 on the other hand isn’t a number that is recieved well by the chinese community. It’s pronounciation, si, has same pronounciation as another word meaning ‘die’. Due to this, apartments replace every floors with the number 4 with 3a (e.g. the 23Ath floor, instead of 24th floor), provided they are owned by those who believe and know about this la. Oh, come to think of it, my car’s plat number is 44xx hahaha….that’s just nice

‘What is Life?’

Sorry for the long no update ya! But no worries! I’m back! Muahahah..

So yeah, Dr. YB’s dad went and brought up this question: ‘What is life?’. Together with that, Dr. Sandy and her colleague, Dr. Vivien joined in this discussion. Pointless it may seem but its thought-provoking isn’t it? =P

And what does this got to do with me? Well, I didn’t join them but I met them today and ask them these questions: 1. From that discussion, so what can you conclude as the answer to that question? 2. In your opinion, what is life then?

Simple it may seem but one by one (YB and Sandy) gave answers that doesn’t correlate to the question. Some answers actually correspond to the some questions like ‘What  you do in your life?’ or ‘Where life comes from?’. In the end, they manage to give out a some-what acceptable answer to the question.

Anyway, why say it here? Well, feel free to post your answer if u want. I’d like to know some cool answer. The question by the way, is WHAT IS LIFE. Stick to the question a. So be careful with your answers =P. Oh, and I don’t have an answer to the question.
